Breaking: Restricted free agent gets over $26 million in new deal.

It's a big day for the St. Louis Blues.

The team has officially announced that they have agreed to terms on a new deal with forward Jaden Schwartz. The Blues released the full details of the contract and Schwartz will earn $26.75 million over the course of the next five years, bringing his average annual value in at $6,687,500.

The Blues were headed for arbitration with Schwartz next week in Toronto, so both sides finding a way to get a long term deal done in the clutch will be big for both player and organization. It's a big price tag for the Blues, but they are effectively buying several years of unrestricted free agent with this deal and they obviously believe that was worth the long term commitment.
