Breaking: RFA forward breaks contract stalemate and signs six-year deal

This just in, the Ottawa Senators have signed restricted free agent Colin White to a six year, $28.5 million contract worth $4.75 million per season.

Check it out:

While it may not be the big name RFA that most hockey fans were hoping for, White’s signing should at least help move negotiations forward for other unsigned RFAs. All eyes are on Brayden Point, Mitch Marner and Mikko Rantanen for obvious reasons, but there are still other unsigned RFAs like Brock Boeser, Patrik Laine and Charlie McAvoy left to be signed.

The 22 year old White put up 14 goals and 41 points in 71 games with the Sens last season, his first full season of pro hockey. The former 21st overall pick of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft is expected by many to make a big leap in production this upcoming season, as he has been all but guaranteed a spot in the team’s top six forward group.
