Things have been going down hill for Mike Ribeiro. In August, Bob Perno, long time friend and agent of the former NHL center, revealed that his client had been dealing with substance abuse issues for a long time and had sought professional help over the years.
Ribeiro looked like he was finally back on track to recovery, but after watching his play this past season, Perno noticed something was off. Ribeiro finished the season playing for the Milwaukee Admirals looking almost unrecognizable.
Now things are getting worse as it has been confirmed that Ribeiro was arrested in Florida back on Oct. 27. The 37-year-old was arrested for trespassing after warning.
Many reports have said that nobody has been able to reach Ribeiro for quite a while. Now, the news of his arrest gets more worrisome.
It's been quite the downward spiral for Ribeiro, whose wife left him and took the couple’s three kids with her. She reportedly could no longer handle his off-ice behavior, including the civil lawsuit that accused Ribeiro of sexually assaulting the family’s former nanny.
We’re hoping Ribeiro gets the help he needs.
