Breaking: Rival team trying to acquire top Maple Leafs executive.

Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman has broken a huge story during the intermission between the second and third period of Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Final.

According to Friedman, the Colorado Avalanche have asked the Toronto Maple Leafs for permission to speak with assistant general manager Kyle Dubas, which immediately makes you wonder if the Avalanche intend to replace Joe Sakic as the team's general manager.

Perhaps even more surprising however is the fact that Friedman is reporting that the Leafs have in fact granted the Avalanche permission to speak to Dubas. Dubas is very highly regarded, and is credited as being one of the central components in guiding Toronto's current, and seemingly successful, rebuild.

It's unclear at this time which way Dubas or the Avalanche are leaning at moment.
