Calgary, Alberta, native Jeff Glass was stopping shots and looking sharp in practice for the Chicago Blackhawks this morning. The 31-year-old was called up to the NHL squad on April 13th, and according to Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times: “I guess he’s your starting goalie tonight.”

Lazerus was quick to add:

Blackhawks fans have enough to worry about tonight, so at least a goaltending crisis hasn’t been added to the list. With Chicago down 0–3 to Nashville, the Blackhawks need to focus much more on scoring than on their goaltending. The Blackhawks have only two goals in three games, and were shutout in games 1 and 2.

The morning skate was definitely an optional affair, hence why Glass was in action.

Corey Crawford is still expected to start in net for the Blackhawks. Despite their precarious position, Crawford has had a solid playoff performance, posting a 0.908 save-percentage and a 2.77 GAA in three games. He stopped 46 out of 49 shots for a .939 save-percentage in Game 3.

Chicago isn’t facing elimination due to goaltending, unless you’re talking about Nashville’s Pekka Rinne. Rinne has mired the Blackhawks scorers with two shutouts and a stunning .979 save percentage, allowing two goals on 95 shots.

Only Dennis Rasmussen and Patrick Kane have scored for the Blackhawks. Chicago’s forwards need to find a way to get through a stifling Nashville defense if they want to prolong this series.

It’s do-or-die in Nashville as the Predators will look to snuff out the Blackhawks playoff run in Game 4 tonight, Thursday, April 20th.
