After a three-game stint with the Detroit Red Wings, the organization has decided to send rookie Tyler Bertuzzi down to the Grand Rapids Griffins.

When he was initially called up to join the big club, Bertuzzi was mandated with getting to the dirty areas and scoring the types of goals grinding, bottom-six players are known for. Unfortunately, he went pointless through that period of time and finished with a mere two shots on goal and an overall mnus-1 rating.

The 21-year-old left-winger was a surprise call-up for many fans, as they wondered why Anthony Mantha did not receive a vote of confidence before Bertuzzi did. After all, Mantha had scored eight goals and 10 points in 10 games while Bertuzzi only had two goals and four points in nine games.

Mantha was later recalled, and had looked very promising against the Montreal Canadiens. His superior hockey sense and overall skillset have not gone unnoticed, and he was arguably the best forward last Saturday against his childhood team.
