According to a report from KHL insider Aivis Kalnins it appears the brief love affair between the Vegas Golden Knights and Russian forward Vadim Shipachyov is nearly over.

This, frankly, is a shocking turn of events. The 30-year-old Shipachyov became just the 2nd player to join the Vegas Golden Knights when he signed with the team in May after another championship with the KHL’s SKA Saint Petersburg. The shifty playmaker put up an astounding 26 goals and 76 points in just 50 games with SKA last season, outscoring NHL greats like Pavel Datsyuk.

While it’s not clear exactly what Shipachyov’s exit strategy would be, Kalnins makes it clear that the former KHL star is not happy with how he’s being used in Vegas:

What a mess. It remains to be seen how this scenario unfolds, but regardless it has to be seen as an early black eye on the NHL’s newest franchise.
