Breaking: Schultz in or out?

It looks like Letang will suit up against the Flyers… but what about the other Penguins top blue liner?

According to Justin Schultz himself, he’ll be a “game time decision” for tonight’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers. The Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman has been out of his team’s lineup since suffering a lower-body injury against the New York Rangers in early December. We already know the injured defenseman Kris Letang will suit up tonight, but could Schultz join him?

At the Penguins’ gameday skate in Philly this morning Schultz was paired with Ian Cole and took some drills on the team’s 2nd power-play unit, so don’t be surprised if he suits up tonight.

Count Cole as one of the Penguins most looking forward to Schultz’s return. ”I think it's huge,” said Schultz’s regular defense partner. “When they're out, 'Schultzy' for a month and 'Tanger' for a couple games here, it's certainly a big hole to fill. They're great players, so we're all very excited to have them back."

Captain Sidney Crosby was also quick to heap praise on both Schultz and Letang "Those are guys that can skate their way out of trouble pretty nicely,” said the Penguins captain. And I think when you're talking about not trying to spend a lot of time in your end, those are guys who can kill plays or not even allow them to develop with the way they can skate and get ourselves out of the D zone. I think 5-on-5, between that and joining the rush too, they're going to help us a lot."
