In a stunning development reported earlier today Seattle mayor Ed Murray and OVG chair Tim Leiweke announced a tentative $660 million deal for the renovation of Seattle’s KeyArena, effectively prepping it for an NHL or NBA franchise.

Now, the NBA has stepped forward to say that they’re not interested, which has furthered speculation that the group may be in negotiations with the NHL. NBA spokesman Mike Bass said, “The NBA is not involved in the ongoing Seattle arena process, and we have no plans to expand at this time.”

Further fanning the speculation behind NHL expansion or relocation is the fact that potential NHL franchise investor David Bonderman has, “has put money into the building,” according to Leiweke.

So far the NHL has not made any official statement on the developments in Seattle. Stay tuned.
