Breaking: Senators lock up talented young forward with multi-year deal
KEYSTONE PRESS

The Ottawa Senators have signed 24-year-old forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau to a 3-year contract this morning.

Both sides were facing arbitration if a deal couldn't get done with Pageau's pending RFA status, but those proceedings have been avoided thanks to today's signing.

The 5'9, 181-lb Pageau was Ottawa's 4th-round pick in the 2011 NHL Draft, and he has split his time between the Senators and their AHL affiliate in Binghamton.

A mainstay on the roster since his first full season with the Senators in the 2015-16 season, his best to date with 19 goals, 24 assist, and 43 points in 82 games. Pageau has 45 goals and 56 assists for 101 points across his 251 NHL games.

The Senators have managed to keep a valuable young asset for a very affordable price, now they only have to worry about getting a contract sorted out with RFA forward Ryan Dzingel.
