The Ottawa Senators have already made a large number of very significant trades ahead of the trade deadline for the 2018 - 2019 National Hockey League regular season and it appears they are nowhere close to being done as of yet.

According to a breaking news report from TSN National Hockey League insider Darren Dreger the Ottawa Senators have just benched two of their current roster players just roughly one hour ahead of tonight's match up between the aforementioned Senators and the Calgary Flames. Dreger reports that both defenseman Cody Ceci and veteran forward Mikkel Boedker will be watching from the press box tonight.

Of course the Senators are not about to disclose why either man is being pulled out of the line up this evening but with less than 24 hours to go now before the NHL trade deadline and with the current direction the Senators are trending in, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to put the pieces of this puzzle together.

I suppose that this means that you can now add both Cody Ceci and Mikkel Boedker to the very top of the trade bait list alongside fellow Ottawa Senators teammate Mark Stone as it now appears to be a full on fire sale in Ottawa. The Senators have already traded arguably their top center by dealing Matt Duchene to the Columbus Blue Jackets for picks and prospects and they then traded winger Ryan Dzingel to that very same team just hours later, once again for picks and prospects as they begin what is now a clear tear down of their current roster.

The question of course now has to become who in the hell is going to play for the Senators during the final games of the regular season if things continue to trend this way, and perhaps more importantly for Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk, how in the world do you plan on getting fans to come to your building with the current state of your organization?

No word yet from Dreger on where these two players may end up at this time and with so many teams looking for a right handed shot on the blue line it's near impossible to predict how many teams might have interest in a player like Ceci, and even more impossible to try and predict which teams they may be.
