The Edmonton Oilers handed the Ottawa Senators their sixth straight loss after a 4-2 win last night. After losing 7-2 to the Washington Capitals Tuesday night the Senators came out with a solid effort, but still fell short.

It has been quite hard for the remaining players on the Sens' roster after they lost major key players in Matt Duchene and Mark Stone at the trade deadline. No one really knows what the future holds for the team, however, another major change has come.

The Senators have officially fire Guy Boucher on Friday morning.

Marc Crawford has been named interim head coach for the remainder of the season. Former Senators’ centre Chris Kelly will also join Crawford’s staff on interim basis.

“I want to thank Guy for his three years of service. He is a good person and has been an excellent representative of the Senators. At this point, however, we need a different set of coaching and leadership skills to guide our team through this rebuild,” said general manager Pierre Dorion. “In the interim, Marc will bring a different perspective along with a wealth of head coaching experience.”

The Senators currently sit last in the NHL with a 22-57-5 record.

In the team release, the Senators said they would be looking for a new head coach who excels in the following:
-A teacher who will focus on the development and growth of each player on the team;
-A listener who encourages feedback from players and the coaching staff;
-A communicator who lets every team member know where they stand and what is expected;
-A tactician who brings structure and game planning that will enhance our rebuild.

Boucher leaves the Senators with a 94-108-26 record as head coach of the team. He joined the Senators following three seasons in Switzerland with Bern SC. Prior to that, Boucher coached the Tampa Bay Lightning for two-plus seasons from 2011 to 2013, dismissed midway through his third season. he has registered a career mark of 191-187-46 behind the bench over six seasons in the NHL.
