Breaking: Sens’ Brassard comments on Pens’ goaltending controversy

After being thoroughly embarrassed by the Ottawa Senators in a 5-1 rout during game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final, Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan was cryptically tight lipped about who his starting goaltender will be for the series’ pivotal game 4. Sullivan indicated only that he’d have to “sleep on” his decision before making an announcement. 

One Sens forward however, seems to have an indication of who his team will face Friday night at Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa. 

Clearly Brassard subscribes to the “dance with who brung ya” philosophy when it comes to goaltending decisions, but we expect Sullivan to be more thorough in his decision making. As for Brassard, the 29 year-old has been a clutch performer for the Sens this postseason with four goals and 11 points in 17 games. He’s also been a big part of the forecheck that’s kept Pens superstars like Sidney Crosby and Evgeny Malkin off the scoresheet for much of the series.

While it’s not yet known who’ll be in goal Friday night for the Pens, it’s clear that whomever it is, he’ll need to be at the top of his game if his team hopes to avoid falling down 3-1.
