Breaking: Sens GM reveals key detail about his plan for the expansion draft.

The subject of the expansion draft has been a touchy one for National Hockey League general managers but on Monday during his end of season press conference, Ottawa Senators general manager Pierre Dorion shared an important detail regarding his plans.

While it will likely come as little surprise to fans who witness the incredible performance of Craig Anderson this season, this in spite of terrible personal tragedy off the ice, Dorion confirmed to the media on Monday that the Senators would in fact be protecting Anderson.

While that may not initially seem like big news, it also coincidentally reveals which goaltender Dorion will be leaving exposed at the expansion draft. While the Senators had a number of goaltenders in their system this season, only Andrew Hammond remains under contract through next season.

Hammond is coming off a rough year, but he is just one season removed from back to back seasons where he definitely demonstrated that he was at minimum a high-quality backup goaltender.

Hammond remains a popular fixture in the Ottawa market, and fans will likely be saddened if he is in fact claimed by the Golden Knights.
