Breaking: Sens sign promising blue line prospect
Keystone Press

The Ottawa Senators have announced that they’ve signed 2015, 5th round selection Christan Jaros to a three year entry-level contract. The 6’3”, 201 lb defenseman played last season for Lulea HF of the Swedish Elite League and produced five goals and 13 points in 36 games.

In total, the Slovakian native tallied 19 points in 86 games in Sweden’s top division of professional hockey and has represented his country at the IIHF World Junior Champions and IIHF World Hockey Championships. In fact, Jaros was named captain of the Slovakian squad for the 2016 World Junior Championships after capturing a bronze medal in the event the year prior.

It’s unclear exactly whether or not Jaros will suit up with the Senators next season or if he’ll play out the season with the team’s new AHL affiliate in Belleville. Regardless, Sens fans have to be encouraged with the team’s ever expanding collection of promising young players.
