Breaking: Shocking update from Jaromir Jagr.
Keystone Press

If you're a fan of National Hockey League legend Jaromir Jagr and were hopeful that he would get at least one more season in the NHL, these are not the kind of comments you want to hear.

NHL.com's Michael Langr recently had a chance to catch up to the living legend and asked him about his current status as a free agent, and by the sounds of things Jagr's future may not be in North America.

"The most serious negotiations I have are with Kladno. Because Kladno has a smart owner who knows what he wants," said Jagr as per NHL.com. "No, really, I don't have a clue. I leave it all on my agent [Petr Svoboda]. There is a couple of [NHL] teams that showed interest, but nothing specific yet."

While Jagr is almost certainly kidding about Kladno, a team owned by both he and his father, the fact that six weeks into free agency he has yet to receive any solid offers is troubling. Although he did go on to say he would consider the option of playing for Kladno as it would allow him certain comforts and freedoms he wouldn't get elsewhere.

"That would be the advantage of playing for Kladno. One thing is I would be at home and the other is I would have a chance to leave for the NHL anytime there is an opportunity," he said. "Let's say some team deals with injuries and needs help, then I could pack my stuff in the next day and go. If I played in Extraliga, I wouldn't have such an option unless the Czech league season would be over."

At the end of the day, it sounds like Jagr is struggling to find a new home in the NHL, and that is very disappointing to say the least.

"It's true that when I got back to the NHL (in 2011), I told myself I would very much want to get to 2,000 [NHL] points. But it's still far away. I didn't expect it would be so hard to get a job in the NHL this year."

We genuinely hope that Jagr has not already played his last game in the NHL.
