Will he be as good as his father?

A veteran of 1,651 NHL games and 948 points to show for it (185 G, 763 A), Chelios was an elite defender in his time and certainly has a lot of things to teach the defense.

The three-time Stanley Cup champion, three-time Norris Trophy winner and four-time Olympian sits 10th all-time in points for a defenseman, his offensive experience can open up the game for puck-movers like Niklas Kronwall, Alexey Marchenko, Jakub Kindl, Danny Dekeyser and newcomer Mike Green—who at just 30 years old, has a very respectable 363 points (113 G, 250 A) in 584 games; as well as a 30-goal season and two 70-point seasons.

It appears he opened up the game for another defenseman which is his sone. The Son of hall of fame defensemen has inked his first NHL deal today. As reported by the Carolina Hurricanes, the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Jake Chelios on a one-year, two-way contract. The deal will pay Chelios $650,000 on the NHL level or $85,000 on the American Hockey League (AHL) level during the 2017-18 season.
