A 7.5 million dollar player may be going on the shelf for quite a long time.

According to a breaking news report from Mike Russo of The Athletic, a source has informed him that Minnesota Wild star forward Zach Parise is currently contemplating back surgery, a process that could occur as early as Tuesday, due to a major injury.

Russo reports that a herniated disk that Parise was diagnosed with during the 2015-2016 National Hockey League season has flared up and now Parise is experiencing persistent and intense pain in one of his legs as a result of that injury.

Parise, who is meant to be one of the Wild's top players if not they're very best, has not played a single game yet this season as a result of the injury, and this surgery would keep him out for several additional months. Based on the timeline provided by Russo Parise would be looking at a potential return in 3 months time if everything goes according to plan.

The star forward has never played a full season since signing a massive contract with the Wild and his constant injuries have been a growing source of frustration among a fan base that has been extremely patient despite his constant problems. This latest report is only going to add more fuel to that fire.
