Veteran defenseman bought out on Thursday

NHL’s 1st buyout period has started on Thursday and will end on June 30.

On this first official day, the Avs opt to Buy Out François Beauchemin, veteran defenseman and former Stanley Cup Champion.

He has 271 points (73 goals, 198 assists) through 836 career NHL contests. Beauchemin is a former Montreal Canadiens third round pick (75th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

Beauchemin played for the Montreal Canadiens, Columbus Blue Jackets, Anaheim Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Colorado Avalanches. He won a Stanley Cup in 2007 with the Ducks.
