Breaking: Star center injured in World Cup training.

Friday is turning out to be a bad day for teams that have players preparing for the World Cup of Hockey.

The latest injury report comes from Los Angeles Kings insider Jon Rosen who is reporting that Kings star center Jeff Carter has suffered some form of lower body injury, and while Rosen did not reveal the extent of that injury, we do know that Carter's status for the tournament is now in doubt.

One would have to imagine that the Los Angeles Kings may want to step in here and evaluate the severity of the injury to Carter before perhaps strongly suggesting that he should sit this one out, assuming of course that the injury warrants it.

We will update this story once we have more information about the nature of and severity of Carter's lower-body injury.

Earlier today Leafs' goaltender Frederik Andersen was also reportedly injured when colliding with a teammate.
