One of the big surprises of the National Hockey League season has been the decline of the Dallas Stars, and now the Stars will have to contend without one of their top forwards for at least the near future.

A report from Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News has revealed that Stars' captain Jamie Benn was placed on injured Wednesday indicating that he will miss at least two more games due to the foot injury that has been plaguing him. There has been no time frame for Benn's return to the line up but the Stars had previously listed him as day to day.

Heika believes this could force the Stars to make some difficult decisions regarding their roster, pointing specifically to the fact that the team is currently rolling with eight defensemen in the line up and lacking depth at the forward position. The urgency Dallas will feel to make any such move in the immediate future will likely largely depend on how severe the injury to Benn truly is.

Despite the injury Benn currently still ranks among the NHL's top 15 point producers.
