BREAKING: Star Forward to Miss 2-3 Weeks
Keystone Press

After a spectacular first half of the season that saw hulking forward Kevin Hayes score 13 goals and 35 points in 47 games, the New York Rangers will have to get used to life without him for the next little while.

According to the Rangers' official Twitter account, the 24-year-old has undergone an MRI this morning and is slated to miss at least the next two-to-three weeks with what they're calling a "lower-body" injury:

Hayes has never scored more than 17 goals and 45 points in a single season, and was well on his way to setting career highs for both tallies and assists this year. The Rangers will hope that his rehabilitation goes according to plan, and that he will be reinserted back into the lineup as quickly as possible.

There is no word yet on whether the Rangers will proceed to call another forward up, but we will be sure to provide you with updates as soon as possible.

More to follow.
