BREAKING: Star placed on IR, Forward Called Up

The Chicago Blackhawks have placed forward Artem Anisimov on the injured reserve moments ago retroactive to December 18th. The center was initially listed as day-to-day on December 17th with an upper body injury after leaving the game against the St. Louis Blues the night before. 

In order to compensate for his loss, the Blackhawks organization has proceeded to call up forward Tanner Kero of their American Hockey League affiliate the Rockford IceHogs. The 24-year-old center has appeared in only 17 NHL games during the 2015-2016 regular season, and posted a single goal and three points. 

Anisimov was off to a red-hot start to the 2016-2017 season. After appearing in 32 games, the center managed 14 goals and 27 points. 

There is no specific timeline regarding his return, as it is unclear if he will be on the injured reserve long-term.
