Breaking: Star player placed on IR

The Boston Bruins have placed star forward David Krejci on injured reserve, the team announced on Monday. General Manager Don Sweeney had already confirmed that Krejci would not play this week, but the latest report suggest that he his now dealing with a back injury.

This kind of injury is tricky, so Krejci may miss some time. He only played six games so far this season, registering six points. Boston is already dealing with long-term injury to David Backes.

Krejci, 31, was drafted 63rd overall by the Bruins in 2004. In 711 games played in the NHL, he registered 532 points. He added 77 points in 96 playoff games, helping Boston to win the Stanley Cup 2011.
