Just as the Toronto Maple Leafs were finally starting to find themselves within the playoff race, their latest loss at the hands of their Ontarian rivals Ottawa Senators has placed them right outside of the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. Though the team has only played 44 games- four less than the Philadelphia Flyers who have one point over the Leafs- they could find themselves back in with a win against the Calgary Flames at the Air Canada Centre tonight.

Unfortunately, they'll have to once again do so without the help of their star defenceman Morgan Rielly, who has missed the last two games with a lower-body injury, according to CBC.ca.

While the precise nature of his injury remains unclear and with three games left before this upcoming weekend's All-Star break, the 22-year-old blue-liner has nevertheless continued to skate with his teammates. The break could perhaps allow him to nurse his ailment furthermore.

Head coach Mike Babcock has resorted to using Jake Gardiner significantly more during Rielly's absence, while Nikita Zaitsev has taken Frank Corrado's place after returning from injury this past weekend.

How much longer Rielly will remain sidelined is anybody's guess, though it appears that his injury is not of the long-term nature.

More updates to follow.
