The father of a National Hockey League goaltender has apparently just confirmed that his son won't be playing again this season.

Russianwebsite Rsport is now reporting that the father of  Colorado Avalanche starting goaltender Semyon Varlamov has informed them that Varlamov suffered a a major injury and will need to undergo season-ending surgery in order to repair the damage.

While an injury of this magnitude to a starting goaltender has to be considered horrible news, given the Avalanche's current predicament this will likely have no impact on their season as they are on pace for one of the worst seasons of the millennium.

That being said we hope Varlamov makes a full and speedy recovery.
