Breaking: Sullivan delivers bad news regarding Dumoulin and Rowney
Keystone Press

Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan met with reporters this morning following the team’s gameday skate at PPG Paints Arena in preparation for tonight’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes to deliver some bad news. Penguins forward Carter Rowney will be out of the team’s lineup for a minimum of 4 weeks, while defenseman Brian Dumoulin is day-to-day recovering from a concussion.

Rowney’s injury was described only as an “upper body injury” with no specifics on the cause or severity of his injury. Sullivan confirmed that Dumoulin was diagnosed with a concussion while in Philadelphia and the head coach is hopeful that the team will “get him back in a timely fashion.”

As if that wasn’t bad enough, Sullivan reported that there’s no update on the condition of forward Bryan Rust and defenseman Chad Ruhwedel, as well. Both players are considered to be out long-term with no timetable for their return.
