Breaking: Superstar forward doesn't show up for practice after massive trade rumors.

A National Hockey League superstar has just poured gasoline onto an already blazing fire.

According to a breaking news report from Colorado Avalanche insider Mike Chambers of the Denver Post, Avalanche star Matt Duchene failed to show up for a "captain's practice" on Tuesday, the first pre-training camp practice for the Avs.

Duchene of course was one of the organizations alternate captains in the 2016-2017 NHL season, and his absence was immediately apparent to those in attendance, especially considering 22 of his teammates did show up.

While Duchene was not traded prior to the trade deadline or at the NHL Entry Draft, two moments that many believed would mark the end of his time in Colorado, it has now become rather obvious that after all the trade rumors Duchene himself wants out of Colorado.

Team captain Gabriel Landeskog expressed his disappointment at Duchene's absence, and was at a loss for words when it comes to explaining it.

“I talked a little bit with Dutchy. He’s not here; that’s not a secret,” said Landeskog as per Chambers. “But we’ll have to wait and see. As of right now, he’s a part of the Avalanche organization and we all expect him to be here when training camp starts. I don’t really know what else to tell you right now.”
