Breaking: Talented forward will miss up to two months with a very bad injury.

Some very brief albeit devastating news to announce this morning.

According to a report from Sportsnet's Chris Jonhston the Toronto Maple Leafs have lost one of their top forwards, James van Riemsdyk for a six to eight week period. Van Riemsdyk has suffered a fracture in his left foot, the Maple Leafs have since confirmed Johnston's report.

While this certainly isn't good news for the Leafs, expectations were low, and if the team loses more games without van Riemsdyk they likely won't be too devastated. Perhaps a silver lining for fans will be the oppurtunity to watch Josh Leivo in action after the Maple Leafsannounced he has been called up to fill the hole left in van Riemsdyk's absence.
