Breaking: Tavares will get pissed off again; another controversial decision impacts the Leafs!

John Tavares will certainly gets pissed off following tonight's match up between his Toronto Maple Leafs and the visiting Philadelphia Flyers. No, the star forward will not be upset to have sported a green uniform in honour of St. Patrick's Day, but it will sure feel like Groundhog Day for the Leafs.

On Wednesday night, the Leafs attempted to pull off a miraculous comeback against the Chicago Blackhawks, however their to-be tying goal in the third period was waved off as Collin Delia's net was moved before the puck crossed the line. After the Maple Leafs' 5-4 loss at the hands of the Hawks, a frustrated Tavares suggested a rule change.

“I didn’t see what happened there with the net coming off, but if that’s on purpose by them, especially in the last couple mins in big situations, I would love to see that being a challenge at some point. You have that kind of pressure & that’s kind of a free out …”

Well, he will probably want to express his suggestion again tonight as the same thing as just happened to the Leafs against the Flyers. At the end of the first period of Friday, Auston Matthews scored a goal, which gave a short 2-1 lead to the Leafs over the Flyers.

However, the goal was once again waved off because it was determined that the net was off its moorings before Matthews batted in a a rebound.

Tavares will have to bite his tongue until the end of the contest, but we might get some juicy comments out of him following the game.

Even Leafs insider James Mirtle of The Athletic calls for ScotiaBank Arena to fix their nets!

During the first intermission, Patrick Marleau, who scored the tying goal tonight was asked about Matthews' disallowed goal and seemed to be agreeing with his teammate Tavares' comments.

“Maybe that’s something they should be looking at, see if we can review how a net came off.”

To be continued...
