Team agree to terms on a three-year contract with defenseman.

As per general manager Marc Bergevin, the Montreal Canadiens agree to terms on a three-year contract with defenseman Simon Bourque.

Bourque is a 20-year-old defenseman drafted 177th overall by the Canadiens in the 2015 NHL entry Draft. The 6’1“ and 194 lbs rearguard collected 51 points (15 goals, 36 assists) in the QMJHL with Rimouski Oceanic and Saint John Sea Dogs.

According to the website HockeyFuture, Simon Bourquehas a unique set of tools. Offensively, he has great awareness on the ice, is an excellent stick handler, and has a great pass. His ice time was increased last season and he was able to play in all situations. Known more as a set-up guy than a shooter, Bourque is a complimentary player on the man advantage, looking to create rather than finish. Defensively, Bourque relies on positioning and an active stick rather than using his frame to separate a player from the puck, though he can be physical when need be.”
