Breaking: Team confirms they have just lost their best forward.

Fans of the Montreal Canadiens may be on the verge of hitting the panic button.

The Canadiens have just confirmed that star forward Jonathan Drouin, their major offseason acquisition, has just been injured and will not be returning to the game tonight against the Las Vegas Golden Knights.

Drouin has been one of the few bright spots for the Canadiens in what has been a bad start to the season and has arguably been their very best forward night in and night out. He's even managed to do so while playing center, a position that he was not used to filling at the National Hockey League level, and is currently tied for the team lead in points.

It's unclear how Drouin suffered the injury at this time, but he did take a pass off his hand during the game, and there are rumors that may be the source of his current ailment.

If this turns out to be at all serious it will be a catastrophe for the Canadiens.
