Breaking: Team has placed their starting goaltender on waivers!

There has been a shocking move made in the National Hockey League.

An official announcement from the Islanders via the team's social media platform has revealed that they have placed veteran goaltender Jaroslav Halak on the waiver wire. 

There were rumors that the Islanders were looking to trade Halak throughout the season, but this move would appear to indicate that they were unable to find any suitors for the goalie's services. 

It's stunning to see a goalie who has carried a large workload as the team's number goalie in the NHL to be suddenly placed on waivers in such a fashion, but it's an indication of just how poorly the Islanders three-goalie system was working out.
