It seems like one National Hockey League team may be throwing in the towel early.

A breaking news report from Florida Panthers insider Harvey Fialkov of the Sun-Sentinel has revealed some unbelievable news regarding the Panthers organization. According to Fialkov, the Panthers are now looking at the injuries to both Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov as potential season ending injuries.

These are both a far-cry from what was originally reported and in the case of Barkov his injury, which was originally reported as a "lower-body injury" has now been re-classified as an upper-body injury, indicating that the Panthers weren't at all honest about what is going on with Barkov. Fialkov's source here is general manager and interim head coach Tom Rowe, so you know the report is accurate.

It's devastating news for the Panthers and it may be a sign that the team has determined that a serious run this season may now be out of reach, as a result they may be protecting two of their young talents for the future.
