The Columbus Blue Jackets have just made a major announcement.

The team has officially announced a roster move, they will be calling up 24-year-old left winger Markus Hannikainen of the American Hockey League's Cleveland Monsters but the big news is the reason behind that call up.

From the Blue Jackets:

The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed center Lukas Sedlak on Injured Reserve and recalled left wing Markus Hannikainen from the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Sedlak, 24, will miss approximately six weeks due to an ankle injury suffered in Monday's practice.

Sedlak was off to a solid start with the Blue Jackets this season, already recording two goals and two assists in just eight games this season, an injury this severe obviously has completely derailed his hot start.
