BREAKING: Team removed interim tag from their head coach.

The Islanders have experienced a tremendous turn around since head coach Jack Capuano was fired and Dough Weight took over behind the bench, and now it seems like Weight may earn even more respect from his team by going to bat for them.

It appears that the New York Islanders were pleased with Weight’s job as they confirmed important news regarding his future with the team.

The New York Islanders removed interim tag from Doug Weight, making him the team’s permanent head coach.

Doug Weight played 1238 games in the NHL. He scored 278 goals and registered 755 assists for a total of 1033 points. He played for the New York Rangers, the Edmonton Oilers, the St-Louis Blues, the Carolina Hurricanes, the Anaheim Ducks and the New York Islanders.
