I have to admit I'm really confused about this deal, not because the addition for a playoff team doesn't make sense, but because it's the second trade to come down after the Bruins publicly announced that they had made the decision not to make any trades at the deadline.

According to a report from TSN hockey insider Bob McKenzie the New Jersey Devils have traded their leading scorer Lee Stempniak and in exchange the Boston Bruins will give up a 2nd round draft pick as well as a 4th round draft pick.

It's insane to think that no one would sign Stempniak during the offseason, instead he earned himself a new deal after a tryout, went on to lead the Devils in scoring, and today turns int two draft picks for the organization.

However this trade makes this premature email from the Bruins even more confusing.
