Breaking: Team will face the player they just waived on the opposition's top line.

This is developing into a very interesting story.

23-year-old Ty Rattie was made a healthy scratch over a dozen times this season as the St. Louis Blues tried to avoid placing him on waivers, and there were many who were disappointed that the former second round draft pick never got a fair shot to crack the Blues line-up.

That chapter of his career ended this week when the Blues finally were forced to make a move and opted to place Rattie on waivers, losing him 24 hours later when he was claimed by the Carolina Hurricanes.

Now in a strange twist of fate, not only will the Blues and Hurricanes face off this week, but Rattie has been placed on the Hurricanes' top line alongside Jeff Skinner and Victor Rask so he will have plenty of opportunity to show off the skills that the Blues gave up for free.

It certainly adds another level of excitement to this match up.
