The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that goaltender Brian Elliott will miss some action as he is dealing with a lower-body injury. Elliott status will be evaluated on a daily basis. Michal Neuvirth will get the start tonight to face the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Flyers also announced that they have called up goaltender Alex Lyon from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (AHL). He will be the Flyers' backup tonight.


Elliott started 38 games with the Flyers so far this season, posting a record of 19-11-7 with a 2.77 goal-against average and a .908 save percentage. Drafted 291st by the Ottawa Senators in 2003, Elliott played 409 games in the NHL so far with the Senators, the Flyers, the Colorado Avalanche, the St.Louis Blues and the Calgary Flames, posting a record of 210-128-42 with a 2.45 goal-against average and a .913 save percentage.

Neuvirth started 13 games this season, posting a record of 5-5-1 with a 2.23 goal-against average and a .928 save percentage.

Lyon, 25, signed as an undrafted free agent with the Flyers in 2016. He started 23 games in the AHL this season, posting a record of 12-8-2 with a 3.02 goal-against average and a .906 save percentage.

The Flyers are currently third in the Metropolitan division with a record of 24-16-8. They are on a four-game winning streak, and they won eight of their last ten games.
