BREAKING: The Buffalo Sabres recalled a goaltender

The Buffalo Sabres have announced that they’ve recalled 6’4”, 220 lb goaltender Linus Ullmark from the AHL’s Rochester Americans.

It’s been an up and down season for Ullmark who has been recalled by the big club no less than six times this season, but has yet to see any game action in the Sabres crease. However, he has played 53 games for the Americans this season where he sports a 2.86 GAA and .909 Sv%. He last played for the Sabres during the 2015-16 season where he went 8-10-2 and posted a respectable 2.60 GAA and .913 Sv%.

Given that the Sabres have treated Ullmark like a yo-yo this season, it would be a nice gesture to get the big Swede into a game or two before they wrap up the season. Working in his favor is the fact that starter Robin Lehner has looked tired during his team’s recent three game slide. However, despite the call up and Lehner’s recent win-loss record head coach Dan Bylsma confirmed that Lehner will indeed get the start tonight as the Sabres take on the Montreal Canadiens. Strange? Maybe, but that’s been the story for Ullmark all season long.
