Breaking: The Detroit Red Wings have made their biggest trade of the season.

We have early reports of a trade involving Thomas Vanek.

According to Sportsnet Insider Elliotte Friedman has been traded to the Florida Panthers, and despite his excellent season it sounds like the Red Wings won't be getting much in return.

According to Friedman the Red Wings will be getting a third round draft choice in exchnage for Vanek, a far cry from the first-round pick that general manager Ken Holland was rumored to be seeking as recently as yesterday.

Update: According to TSN insider Bob McKenzie the Red Wings have also acquired defenseman Dylan McIlrath in the deal.
