Breaking: The Flames and Red Wings have made a trade!

The Detroit Red Wings and the Calgary Flames have made a trade deal during free agent frenzy.

It's a relatively minor deal, with veteran goaltender Tom McCollum being the biggest piece in the deal and he is headed from the Calgary Flames to the Detroit Red Wings. 

In exchange for the 27-year-old former Detroit Red Wings first round draft pick the Red Wings will be sending a conditional 7th round draft pick back to Calgary in the deal.

Certainly not the kind of value the Red Wings would expect McCollum to have 9 years after drafting him in the first round of an NHL draft.
