Breaking: The Leafs and Golden Knights have made a trade!

We have a trade in the National Hockey League.

According to an official announcement from the Toronto Maple Leafs Public Relations team, the Maple Leafs and the Las Vegas Golden Knights have agreed to terms on a trade.

In the deal the Leafs will receive goaltender Calvin Pickard from the Golden Knights and going back the other way will be forward Tobias Lindberg and a 6th round draft selection in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.

Calvin Pickard spent his entire career as a goaltender for the Colorado Avalanche prior to being claimed in the expansion draft by the Golden Knights. Despite playing for a team that has had little success as of late, Pickard has a solid .914 save percentage over his 86 game NHL career.

Tobias Lindberg on the other hand is a 22-year-old forward who has appeared in just 6 career NHL games, and while he has had respectable performances in the American Hockey League with the Toronto Marlies, it largely feels like his part in this deal was allowing the Leafs to move a contract back the other way, although that is merely speculation on my part.
