The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators have pulled off a rather large trade deal in terms of sheer numbers.

According to a breaking news report from Ottawa Senators insider Bruce Garrioch it now appears that the Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators will finalize a trade that will see 6 different players on the move. Garrioch reports that the Toronto Maple Leafs will be sending defenseman Nikita Zaitsev, forward Connor Brown and forward Michael Carcone to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for defenseman Cody Ceci, defenseman Ben Harpur , and forward Aaron Luchuk back the other way.  Additionally Garrioch reports that the Ottawa Senators have included a draft pick in this deal, although the nature of that draft pick has not been disclosed at this time.

This is obviously a rather large trade deal with a lot of layers to it, so stay tuned for updates as they become available. Keep in mind that this trade has not yet been made official by the National Hockey League, however Garrioch's record when it comes to breaking Senators related stories is absolutely impeccable.

Update: The Senators have now officially confirmed the trade, the following statemenet was released by Senators general manager Pierre Dorion via the team's website.

"We're bringing in two highly competitive players that we like as long-term fits for our team. Both are the type of true professionals who match with the culture we want to put in place here in Ottawa," said general manager Pierre Dorion. "Nikita is a physical right-shot defenceman who defends hard, fills lanes and blocks shots. Connor has scored 20 goals in the league and is excellent on the forecheck and the penalty kill. We feel both players will add to our depth and fit well within the structure we want our team to play."

Additionally with the official report coming in from the Ottawa Senators organization we can now also confirm the identity of the pick involved in this trade. According to the Senators official website it will be a third round draft selection in 2020 going to Toronto, a pick that previously belonged to the Columbus Blue Jackets but one that was acquired by the Senators as part of their trades with the Jackets this season.
