I have got to be honest, I never thought I would ever find myself rooting for National Hockey League enforcer, and frankly goon, John Scott.

However throughout this entire process I, like many other NHL fans, have rallied behind John Scott, if only because fans realized how much the honor of being elected to the All-Star meant to him, and how much he look forward to sharing the experience with his family.

Things took a drastic turn last week when Scott mysteriously found himself traded to Montreal, and there was a real belief that the NHL may have been attempting to force him out of the game. In a surprising turn of events, fan support reach an all-time high with Scott's name trending on social media.

Perhaps that played into today's decision from the NHL:

John Scott will captain the Pacific Division team at the 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend in Nashville, the National Hockey League announced today.

Scott, elected to the Pacific Division captaincy in fan voting while a member of the Arizona Coyotes, was traded Friday to the Montreal Canadiens of the Atlantic Division. The resultant change in division, and Scott’s subsequent assignment to the American Hockey League, created a unique circumstance that required review – the result of which was a determination to maintain the status quo for the All-Star weekend in order to preserve all parties' pre-existing expectations, including Scott’s desire to participate.
That's right, John Scott will be at the All-Star game, and I may tune in for the first time in years.
