Breaking: The Red Wings have lost their starting goaltender to injury.

The Detroit Red Wings have suffered a terrible loss.

Goaltender Jimmy Howard was relieved by Petr Mrazek on Friday night and while at first the reason behind the swap was a complete mystery, we now know that Howard has been injured.

A breaking news report from Helen St. James has revealed that it is a groin injury for Jimmy Howard who was proving to be a dominant goaltender once again this season. No word yet on the severity of the injury but St. James called it a "terrible break for him and the Red Wings."

Howard thus far had a .943 save percentage and 1.76 goals against average in 11 games for the Wings, meanwhile his replacement Petr Mrazek hasn't been nearly as good in his 11 appearances for the Wings with a .901 save percentage and 3.16 goals against average,
