Three young defensemen are headed to the waiver wire, including a former first round draft selection.

According to Cap Friendly's transaction tracker, defensemen Kenny Agostino, Ville Pokka and Duncan Siemens have all been placed on waivers by their respective organizations on Friday.

Agostino, a former Pittsburgh Penguins fifth round draft pick, was placed on waivers by the Bruins on Friday. This presumably indicates that he has failed to make the Bruins National Hockey League roster and instead will be expected to report to the American Hockey League should he clear the waiver process.

Pokka, a former New York Islanders second round pick, has once again failed to crack the Blackhawks NHL roster, something that has become a trend since he came over to Chicago back in 2014.

Siemens may be the most interesting name on the list, the former 11th overall pick in the 2011 draft has to be largely considered a bust at this point, appearing in just 4 NHL games since being selected by the Colorado Avalanche.

With the Avalanche placing him on waivers today it will be interesting to see if an NHL club considers picking him up in the hopes of helping him regain the tremendous form he once showed in the Western Hockey League.
