Despite suffering through a lacklustre 2016-17 NHL season, Winnipeg Jets fans can at least take some solace in the fact that three of their team’s brightest young talents garnered enough attention to warrant an invitation from Hockey Canada to compete at this year’s IIHF World Hockey Championships in Paris, France and Cologne, Germany.

Even better? The team will be represented at all positions with forward Mark Scheifele up front, defensemen Josh Morrissey on the backend and goaltender Eric Comrie in goal.

Of the three, Scheifele really proved his worth this season. The 24 year-old native of Kitchener, Ontario broke out in a big way with 32 goals and 82 points in 79 games played. He finished in the NHL’s top 10 for scoring for the first time in his career and looks to be on a trajectory to contend for top spot as early as next season. As for Morrissey and Comrie they provided the Jets with depth and stability on the defensive side of things and will most certainly be asked to expand upon their limited roles for next season.
