BREAKING: Three Players Absent
Keystone Press

As the Detroit Red Wings look to bounce back from a relatively mediocre start to the 2016-2017 regular season, a little bit of luck will be required as they take on the Washington Capitals tonight at the Verizon Center.

The Red Wings’ injury woes continue to pile up, as Darren Helm was placed on the injured reserve earlier this week due to a dislocated shoulder suffered against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He is expected to miss a minimum of six to eight weeks, and head coach Jeff Blashill confirmed that to date no surgery is required. He will be re-evaluated once the swelling goes down.

There are three notable absentees at the team’s routine practice that is currently undergoing. Frans Nielsen, Henrik Zetterberg, and Justin Abdelkader did not participate, and the reasons remain unknown.

Hopefully, it’s nothing more than a “maintenance” day for the veteran forwards…
