Breaking: Top scoring Czech defenseman drawing big NHL interest

Jan Rutta, one of the top scoring defenseman in the Czech Extraliga, is apparently generating interest from several NHL clubs, according to a report from NHL player agent Allan Walsh.

The 26 year-old Rutta is an undrafted, offensive defenseman with considerable size and playmaking ability. The 6’2”, 211 lb blue liner put up eight goals and 32 points in 46 games with Chomutov Pirati of the Czech league in 2016-17. In the playoffs however, Rutta really turned heads with  13 points in 17 games.

Given his ability, his size and the fact that he’s already played four season of pro hockey in Europe, Rutta could be an intriguing player for several NHL teams in need of a defenseman.
